Mise en Scene/Props

Fajit
List of props
  • Car - We need the car for the opening scene, and it also shows the audience that Fred has a normal lifestyle
  • Pig mask
  • Dog
  • Note 'Oink Oink' - creates an uneasy atmosphere
  • Knife and toast
  • Laptop
  • Security light

This sheet shows our plan of the mise en scene that we recorded in lesson, and it helped us organise ourselves and get a list of what we needed for filming. The security light is extremely important as it provides a spotlight in some scenes, and it adds tension when it is in the background of some scenes. In addition, we need my dog in a scene because  the innocence of her character contrasts with the dark character of piggy.

The credits appear on screen for the first production company, in the iconic yellow-
orange pulp fiction colour and distinctive font. The use of the iconic colour and distinctive font displays set against the upbeat brass sounding soundtrack of ‘Dick Dales – Misirlou’ gives the audience an idea of pulp fictions ironic mixture of humour and violence that awaits. After the main title 'Pulp Fiction' is displayed in big, bold letters, the list of actors is shown, with the main title slowing fading in the background. In this opening sequence, the names of the actors appear early on in the clip. This is mostly likely because the actors are well established and well known. The unique font and the introduction of another iconic song 'jungle boogie' by Retro and the gang, gives the audience a feel of the unique funky vibe of Pulp fiction; instantly setting the mood.
